Band Crush: Inflatable Boy Clams
I’ve been in LOVE with this band for the past couple of months!
Here’s the lowdown: San Francisco-based band Inflatable Boy Clams briefly existed in the early 80s and only released a self-titled double 7” with 5 tracks on Subterranean records in 1981. The art punk band is often associated with Club Foot, the “premier artist run venue in the 80s”*, where they hung out and played gigs with other like-minded peculiar bands. Their songs are catchy, quirky and have a wicked sense of humor about them. I like to sing them and pretend I had the balls to be in an AWESOME bizarre-o girl band. Dang. If I could turn back time…
Anyway- here are the songs if you have been intrigued by this brief exclamation of love!
Did you love it? Did you love it? You’re nuts if you’re not currently thinking about re-playing them and singing about skeletons all day long.
Carol Detweiler - bass, drums, organ, vocals
JoJo Planteen - bass, vocals
Judy Gittelsohn - organ, slide guitar, bass, vocals
Genvieve Boutet de Monvel - sax
